We have had a few new members join us this year…if you are new, or are wanting some more information to send to friends who are interested, please read the information below.
First things first – we are not a “trendy, organic online market”. This is not an additional place for you to purchase fancy, unique, exotic food. We are not a Melissa’s or Giovanni’s. This is an alternate place to do your regular monthly grocery shopping. An alternate to Pick n Pay and Woolies, not additional to.
MYTH BUSTERS:
- You also DO NOT need a chest freezer to be part of this club. I manage to fit all my meat and dairy for my family in my regular sized fridge/freezer for the month.
- You DO NOT need to plan your menu for the month in order to buy a months worth of meat/chicken etc. If you know you’re going to eat one chicken meal, one mince meal and one pork meal a week for example – buy accordingly for the month.
We have tried to find alternate sources of the basic staples we all use pretty much every day or every week in our kitchen. We focus on a matrix of values and principles that include:
- Supporting local farmers and producers
- Supporting farming and production methods that are kind and considerate to the earth, animals and people
- Finding wholesome alternatives that don’t include all the usual crap we’re used to (sugars, preservatives, colorants etc)
Our overarching goal is to be able to sit down at our tables in our homes and eat food that is full of Shalom (peace). Whilst we do often benefit from wholesale prices, we do sometimes end up paying more for better quality food. For example, when it comes to meat, in my family, we have decided to happily eat less meat because the best ethically produced and traceable meat is a bit more expensive.
Finally, this is not the club for you if all you’re looking for is an alternative place to buy eggs, chicken or cheese (for eg). I am looking for new members who are ready to change the way they purchase food and adopt this new way of “shopping” whole-heartedly.
